COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Headwaters Supports
Museum Fundraiser
LAND O’ LAKES—Headwaters State
Bank was a partial underwriter of the
“Walk on the Wild Side” fundraiser for
the Land O’ Lakes Northern Waters
Museum. The event included tours of
the Pearson home located in the Ottawa
National Forest and filled with various
North American animal mounts, pon-
toon boat and utility vehicle trail rides,
refreshments, and an introduction to
five-stand sporting clays.
Horicon Bank Fundraiser
Supports Honor Flight Vets
HORICON—Horicon Bank is among
the Wisconsin community banks
committed to supporting the effort
to send veterans to Washington D.C.
with the Wisconsin Honor Flight
network. Horicon Bank President
Frederick F. Schwertfeger, himself a
veteran, has challenged each of the 13
bank offices to develop creative ways
to raise money for the veterans.
Sending a veteran and a guide on
an Honor Flight costs $1,200. The
bank has committed to covering $600
of the cost for one veteran and one
guide from each of the offices partici-
pating. Planned fund-raising activi-
ties include a first ever Horicon Bank
Honor Flight 5K Run/Walk sponsored
by the bank’s offices in Iron Ridge and
Neosho while offices in West Bend
and Ripon have announced Shred Day
events to collect donations.
Bank Supports Charity
Fund Raiser
FORT ATKINSON—The Johnson
Creek branch of Premier Bank
allowed volunteers from Tomorrow’s
Hope, an annual fund raiser to
support organizations that assist those
with life-limiting illnesses, to sell
Candles of Hope at the bank.
Candles of Hope are luminaries that
line the track at Tomorrow’s Hope Fest.
Each year, over 1,000 luminaries are
purchased in memory or in honor of
loved ones. The candles are lit at dusk
while supporters walk in the event that
raises money to fight disease.
Bank Collects Suits for
Soldiers
WAUWATOSA—The six Milwaukee
branches of Equitable Bank are help-
ing veterans by supporting a Suits
for Soldiers campaign. The program
collects donations of professional
business attire for veterans re-entering
the civilian workforce.
Bank officials donated the collected
men’s and women’s new and gently
used items to the Milwaukee chapter
of Dryhootch, which distributes the
clothes to job hunting local vets.
In 2013, the campaign collected
975 articles of clothing including 149
complete suits.
A Face in the Crowd
LAKE MILLS—Greenwoods State
Bank offered a free gift to those who
identified themselves in photos taken
at Lake Mills’ annual Town-N-Coun-
try Days parade. A full page of colored
photos was printed in the following
week’s issue of the Lake Mills Leader
newspaper. Those who saw themselves
had to comment on the bank’s Face-
book page to be eligible.
Festival of the Arts
MANITOWOC—Bank First National
was the title sponsor for the Midsum-
mer Festival of the Arts held at the
John Michael Kohler Arts Center in
Sheboygan. The festival featured a
jury-selected art show, live music, a
Culinary Art Cart, hands-on art mak-
ing, and a silent auction.
CBW Legal & Compliance Consortium
Community Bankers of Wisconsin offers its Legal and Compliance Services Consortium to provide
CBWmembers with fast, easy access to compliance and legal services at a flat annual fee.
Godfrey & Kahn renders written or oral legal advice that can be maintained in bank records and provided to regulators.
Consortiummembers become clients of Godfrey & Kahn.
As a member of the CBW/Godfrey & Kahn Legal Consortium, we recently were provided with
unsolicited documents from Godfrey & Kahn addressing three hot topic issues: A “Loan Officer
Compensation Policy” as required under new Reg Z rules; A Guidance document that addresses
new “CFPB Mortgage Servicing Rules”; and a combination of a “Social Media Policy” and
a “Social Media Risk Assessment.” These are rules that 260 Wisconsin community banks are
trying to get their arms around and implement prior to their next exams. The Legal Consortium
continues to provide our bank a great value when we are provided this level of service.
— Jerry L. O’Connor, President & CEO, The National Bank of Waupun
Consortium members can rest assured that they have specialized legal advice
backing up their unique compliance questions and concerns.
